Bird flu virus, H5N1, has been detected at a poultry farm of the Border Guard Bangladesh's headquarters.

Culling of the infected chickens has begun from Tuesday morning.

Deputy director general of the border forces, Brig Gen Mohammad Obaidul Haque, told bdnews24.com that one chicken had suddenly died four days ago. "As the death raised suspicion, we sent it to the Central Diseases Investigation Laboratory (CDIL) for test," he added.

The investigation lab reported a positive bird flu infection, he said. "Later we decided to cull all the chickens of the shed.
