Tyson says storm forces cuts at poultry, pork plants

Tyson Foods Inc (TSN.N) said on Tuesday the winter storm bringing cold and snow to the U.S. Midwest had reduced pork and poultry production at some of its plants.

The company has suspended or reduced production at "about half (a) dozen" poultry plants. The plants are in northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri, Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson said in an email.

Tyson's Columbus Junction, Iowa pork plant was shut on Tuesday while the Logansport, Indiana pork plant will not run a first production shift on Wednesday, he said.

Production schedules at the beef plants have not changed.
